A widely discussed topic in the past few years has been the establishment of the European Prosecutor’s Office. It has many proponents as well as many opponents. The latest forum where this issue has been discussed was a conference of the Visegrad Group of Four Countries in the High Tatraslast April. The paper attempts to explain and describe the historical context which prompted considerations about the establishment of this office, its operation, and related problems.
